What services do you provide?
Speech, Occupational, Physical, and Feeding therapy.
What age children do you treat?
We treat children birth to 18 years of age, depending on the disorder and treatment methods needed.

How do I setup an appointment?
Before we can do an evaluation on your child, we will need a physician’s order. The physician’s order allows Therapy Playground to bill your insurance. Your doctor’s office can fax that physician’s order to Therapy Playground at (910)378-1755. If your child has Tricare Prime, your PCM will need to submit the referral. When you call Tricare to activate that referral, you can request for the authorization to be faxed to Therapy Playground.
Once we have received your child’s referral, you will receive an automatic text message letting you know we have the referral and to please call the office to the evaluation scheduled. Call us at (910)423-5622 to finalize your appointment day and time.
Can I fill out my child’s forms and medical history online?
Yes! Once you receive your first appointment, you will be emailed a welcome letter. The letter contains a link to our Patient Dashboard, which must be activated within 48 hours of receiving the email. Here you can create an account for your child, complete all of the intake forms and provide us with your child’s medical history. You can even make payments and put a credit card on file in the Patient Dashboard.
Directions on accessing the Patient Dashboard are as follows:
Will you see my child in my home / daycare / school?
We are able to see children birth to 3 enrolled in the Infant Toddler Program through the CDSA in their home or daycare. Depending on our need for travel appointments, we may ask that you transition to the clinic for therapy after your child’s 3rd birthday. We are able to see medically fragile children in their homes after their 3rd birthday on a case by case basis. If your child is over 3 years of age and we already serve another child in the daycare or head start they attend, we may be able to serve your child there as well. Please call us at (910) 423-5622 so we can discuss the specifics of your situation and find the best environment to serve your child.
What is the attendance policy?
Therapy Playground understands that family life is busy and you may need to cancel appointments due to other commitments. Your insurance company monitors visits used and wants to make sure you are being seen the recommended amount of times according to your child’s plan of care. That is why we enforce our attendance policy and encourage you to call, text, send a portal message, or leave a voicemail at least 30 minutes before a scheduled appointment to let us know you aren’t coming. We will send you warning texts for attendance policy violations. If we do have to discharge your child for missing or no showing too many appointments, you are able to be reinstated by paying a $25 reinstatement fee.

What time can my child be seen?
Our therapists have availability from 7am to 5:30pm Monday through Thursday and 8am – 12pm on Friday. If we do not have an appointment that works with your child’s schedule, we can place your child on our waiting list and call you when we have an opening. In general, you should keep these things in mind when scheduling:
- Our travel therapists typically provide home and daycare visits in the mornings before lunch.
- Travel visits are in scheduled before noon each day.
- After school appointments are trickier to schedule. We suggest you accept an appointment we have open and speak with your treating therapist about what you need in the future.
- Sometimes before school appointments are easier to schedule. Ask if a therapist has a 7:00 or 7:30 am opening. Many of our therapists have availability early in the day.
- The majority of our therapists do not work on Friday.
- Not all of our clinics have the same amount and types of therapists. Some parents will schedule different services at different clinics based on the current openings at the time of scheduling.
Do we provide therapy at night or weekends?
Typically the latest appointments begin at 5:00pm if they are available and are Monday – Thursday.
How long do the therapy sessions last?
- Typically the initial evaluation will last between 90 minutes and 2 hours.
- Most speech and feeding therapy sessions are 30 minutes, 1 – 2 times a week.
- Most occupational and physical therapy sessions are 45 – 60 minutes, 1 – 2 times a week. The length of the treatment sessions depends on your child’s ability to participate.
What should I bring to the first session / evaluation?
- Be prepared to make your copay at the time of check in
- Insurance cards (Medicaid, BCBS, Aetna, etc)
- Military ID if child has Tricare
- Previous evaluation results
- IEP (Individualized Education Plan) from your child’s school.
- For feeding sessions, bring food that your child does and does not eat.
- For physical therapy sessions, please have your child wear loose clothing.
Does my child see the same therapist each session?
Yes, your child is assigned a therapist and sees that therapist at every appointment. If your child’s assigned therapist is an assistant, the supervising therapist will attend some sessions to complete progress notes and reevaluation. If your schedule changes and your current therapist cannot accommodate the change, we will find you a new therapist or place you on the waiting list until your current therapist has an opening.
We understand from time to time a therapist may not be a good fit for your family. When that happens, please see the front desk or call us at (910)423-5622. We will make every attempt to find a therapist that meets your child’s needs.
Do we provide ABA or behavioral therapy?
No, we do not provide ABA or behavioral therapy. Please talk to your child’s primary care provider about other agencies that can provide these services for your child.
Which insurance do you accept?
We accept Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Medicaid, Tricare and many other insurance carriers. If therapy is not a covered service under your insurance, you may opt to pay out of pocket for your child’s treatment visits. Payment plans can be discussed at the time of referral, once the financial responsibility of the parent has been determined.
We do not accept ChampVA or UMR at this time. You can opt to pay our private pay rates and then file the claim yourself with these insurance companies. Your family is financially responsible for any remaining balance that is left after insurance. If their balance reaches a certain amount, your child could possibly go on hold until the balance is paid down unless financial arrangements are made.
